Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CleanBC heat pump rebate and how much can I receive? +

The BC Energy Savings Program (CleanBC Better Homes) provides government rebates of up to $16,000 for switching from oil or gas heating to a high-efficiency heat pump. Depending on your household income, home type, and BC Assessment value, eligible homeowners qualify for Level 1 (lowest income, highest rebate), Level 2, or Level 3 coverage. Cedar Air is a CleanBC approved rebate contractor and manages all eligibility checks and rebate paperwork on your behalf at no cost. Rebates are applied directly to your project, and in many cases the upgrade costs nothing at all.

Do I need to manage the rebate paperwork myself? +

No. Cedar Air handles the entire process for you. From your free in-home consultation and heat load calculations through equipment selection and full installation, we manage every step. You only need to register on the BC Energy Savings Program portal and provide basic household income information. Our team guides you through this, submits the application, and communicates directly with the program on your behalf. Most clients describe the experience as completely stress-free.

Which areas of BC and Yukon does Cedar Air serve? +

Cedar Air serves all of British Columbia and Yukon Territory. Our service areas include Metro Vancouver (Surrey, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Richmond, New Westminster, Langley), the Fraser Valley (Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission), the Okanagan (Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon, Kamloops), Vancouver Island (Victoria, Nanaimo, Courtenay), Northern BC (Prince George, Prince Rupert, Smithers, Terrace), and Yukon communities including Whitehorse. For commercial or government projects, we can mobilize across the entire province.

What qualifications do Cedar Air tradespeople hold? +

Every Cedar Air tradesperson holds their Red Seal — Canada's interprovincial trade qualification and the highest credential a tradesperson can earn. Our team includes licensed HVAC mechanics, Class A and B gas fitters, licensed Red Seal plumbers, and licensed electricians. Cedar Air carries full liability insurance, WCB coverage on every job, and is a proud HPCN member. We do not send unlicensed workers to your property — ever.

How long does a heat pump installation take? +

A typical residential heat pump installation takes one to two days from start to finish, depending on system type, home size, and whether an electrical panel upgrade is required. Cedar Air's one-stop approach — HVAC, electrical, and metalwork all coordinated by one team — minimizes scheduling gaps and total project time. We provide a full system walkthrough after installation and remain available for follow-up questions, warranty service, and annual maintenance.
